Having earned degrees from Harvard, Yale, and Oxford Universities, he has taught at Saint John's and Oxford. He became a full professor in 2001. He served as Novicemaster and Director of Monastic Formation from 1999 to 2003 when he became the Executive Director of the Hill Museum and Manuscript Library. In January 2005 Father Columba was named Vice President for Programs in Religion and Culture at Saint John's University. (2007)
